We’ve all done it before. You’re waiting at a red light on a rainy day, and as soon as the light goes green, you step on the gas. Sometimes, you give it too much gas, and the wheels spin out unexpectedly. If you find that you’re doing this more often than usual under normal driving conditions, you should check to see if your tires are nearing the end of it’s usable life.
Every tire manufacturer places a wear bar indicator on each of their tires. The purpose of this wear bar indicator is to inform you on how much tread is remaining. When the tread is worn down and is even with the wear bar, it’s time to replace the tires.
An auto repair shop would be equipped with the proper tools, such as a tread depth indicator, to measure how much remaining tread you have left on your tires. A proper measurement reading should be taken from the inner tracks near the center of the tire to get an accurate reading. Also note for any uneven wear, as that may indicate a wheel alignment problem, over-inflation, under-inflation, or a need for tire rotation.
At Joe’s Unlimited Imports Auto Repair, we make it a point to check your tires and inform you of their condition. Book your next service appointment with us today!
